No excuses not to pray! There is no prayer like the prayer of the Church. That thick black book which priests often have in their hands as they walk up and down the sacristy is enough to send shivers down ones’ spine! When I was a little altarboy I used to wonder why these old priests never manage to finish reading this unappealing book – which had no pictures! Although I have struggled with the breviary for the first 4 years of seminary life, it is only after reading Together in Prayer that I can say that I can really appreciate how to use the psalms to pray with and for the Church, in the voice of Jesus.

The book is simple yet profound, practical yet with a touch of humour which I would recommend to anyone who would like to learn how to pray with the Church.
